A 26-year-old homeless man has been charged with breaking into a Waikiki apartment and assaulting a male occupant.

Police said Anthony Shermeta was arrested Friday after he allegedly kicked out the window of a Waikiki apartment at 1:17 a.m. near Kalaimoku Street and allegedly attacked a 29-year-old man in his living room.

The victim was not seriously injured, and said he knew the man who broke into his apartment.
Shermeta was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree assault Saturday. His bail was set at $11,000.
